aocsI work with leaders, coaches, consultants (internal and external), NLP Practitioners and other change agents to support them in reflective practise.

Supervision in this context is best understood if we take the word back to its constituent parts ‘Super’ and ‘Vision’. At its best, the process of supervision helps people working as change agents to see their role more effectively, to explore the dynamics of their relationships with the client system in its widest sense, and to learn and grow as practitioners in response to that process of reflexivity.

The benefits of supervision as a tool for CPD of professionals working in the helping professions originally emerged from the fields of psychotherapy and social work. The field of supervision has grown and developed over many decades and now all of the main professional associations of coaches  require members to be in supervision, ideally with a trained and experienced supervisor. Increasingly working with a supervisor is a requirement for coaches working with businesses and organisations, so demonstrating a good record of supervision can be a strong differentiator for coach selection.

I specialise in organisational supervision, and I enjoy working with OD consultants (internal or external), internal change agents, Service Improvement professionals, and also HR Directors, CEOs, Chairs, Non-Executive Directors and others who want to explore and work with the more unconscious side of organisational life in order to create better-functioning workplaces.

I work with internal and multi-organisation teams to support them to work with the feelings that emerge from working in ‘helping’ professions – including health, social care, social work and the charity and voluntary sector. I am currently particularly developing reflective practice support with school leadership teams and GP practices.

I run regular closed and open supervision groups in the North East of England and occasionally in London. Please contact me (CLICK HERE) for more details.

I work using an integrative, systemic model of supervision that helps you as a coach or consultant to work safely and effectively with individuals and organisations.

To help you understand how supervision can help you in your work, I offer a taster supervision session free-of-charge to coaches and consultants who haven’t previously worked one-to-one with a professional supervisor. CLICK HERE to contact me.

‘Trish has been my supervisor for some 18 months, and our work together is an integral and vital part of my continuing professional development as a coach. Every conversation I have with Trish provides me with something fresh, whether that comes from reflecting on a particular coaching issue or relationship, or on my own development or limitations.  Thanks to Trish I have become more reflective as a coach, more able to relate theory to practice and to look critically at myself and what role I am playing in a coaching relationship.  Trish has  provided me with support, and has challenged me robustly when that is appropriate.  I would have no hesitation in recommending her as a supervisor to both experienced and inexperienced coaches.’

Chrissie Bedwin, Aim High Coaching

‘I have worked with Trish on a number of occasions now and I always come away from our session feeling re-energised and focussed on the task in hand. Trish has a great calming influence on what is often a choppy sea’.
Lynder Mathieson, Senior Leadership and Performance Coach

‘When Trish coaches, she manages to illuminate your ‘blind spots’. With insightful questions and relevant metaphors and parallels Trish allows you to find the answers that are right for you, and often right in front of you. The impact on my performance, after only a couple of session has been immeasurable – her gentle questioning has changed the way I think, and more than that, has led to me taking the action to do what I’ve always wanted to do – write a book.’
